Giving you a safe space to speak your heart, heal deeply, and rewrite your narrative.
Hi! I’m Ava, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with A Road Through, based in Sherman Oaks and offering virtual therapy throughout California.
I’m passionate about helping Black women, girls, and individuals from marginalized communities find their voice, reclaim their worth, and build fulfilling lives rooted in authenticity and self-trust.
My therapy space is a place where you can exhale, speak your truth, and begin healing on your own terms.
-
I specialize in therapy for:
Black women and girls navigating stress, identity, and societal expectations
BIPOC individuals facing intergenerational trauma, family pressure, and life transitions
Kids and teensmanaging anxiety, identity development, and school or family stress
Young adults and college students finding their voice and confidence in new chapters
Women of color struggling with anxiety, depression, or low self-worth
Individuals redefining themselves after major life or relationship changes
Whether you’re helping your teen build resilience or seeking support for yourself, I meet every client with empathy, cultural understanding, and genuine care.
My Areas of ExpertiseTherapy for Black women, girls, and teens in Los Angeles and throughout California
Identity and self-worth therapy
Life transitions therapy (college, relationships, career changes)
Intergenerational trauma therapy
Culturally responsive therapy for BIPOC communities
Therapy for kids and teens navigating emotional regulation and self-esteem
These aren’t just professional specialties — they’re personal passions. I know what it means to carry the expectations of others while trying to stay true to yourself, and I help clients build the tools and confidence to live authentically.
-
My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and narrative-based, using a trauma-informed and intersectional lens. I believe healing starts with being seen, heard, and accepted exactly as you are.
I integrate:
Humanistic therapy focused on empathy and non-judgment
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for practical tools and coping strategies
Narrative therapy to help you reclaim your story and define your own path
For kids and teens, I use creative, developmentally appropriate techniques — helping them express emotions safely, build self-esteem, and strengthen communication with caregivers.
Together, we’ll create a space where healing feels possible, confidence grows, and your story belongs fully to you.
I believe true healing begins when you feel safe to say the quiet parts out loud.
-
My personal experience with therapy began when I was just 13 years old. It was the first time I felt truly seen, supported, and safe to speak my truth. That early experience changed the way I saw myself — it helped me build confidence, self-advocacy, and direction.
Now, I’m passionate about helping Black women, kids, and young adults experience that same sense of empowerment. I understand what it means to live at the intersection of identity, culture, and expectation — and how therapy can help you move from survival to thriving.
Through warmth, honesty, and genuine connection, I help my clients find peace, purpose, and pride in who they are.
