Healing for the Mother Who Tends Everyone Around Her
Hi, I’m Silvana (she/her/ella), a bilingual (English and Spanish) Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, former writer, and mother. I support parents, marginalized individuals, and creatives in Sherman Oaks and the Greater Los Angeles area as they navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, and life experiences that can shape how they see themselves. Therapy with me is a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you don’t have to mask your feelings or diminish the impact your experiences have had on you.
My belief is that if we are able to slow down, be honest about what we’re going through, and tend to the parts of ourselves that we’ve hidden in order to support others or navigate challenges, we can heal families at the root.
-
I specialize in supporting birthing people through grief, perinatal mental health challenges, birth trauma, partner betrayal, identity shifts, postpartum, and the transition into parenthood.
These seasons can bring profound love and meaning alongside experiences of anxiety, isolation, grief, and a shifting sense of self.
Together, we make space for healing beyond survival by tending to your experiences, identity, relationships and sense of self.
My Areas of Expertise:
Abusive Relationship Recovery
Adults with Childhood Trauma & PTSD
Sexual Trauma
Perinatal and Postpartum Anxiety
Perinatal Grief & Loss
Postpartum Life Transitions
Couple’s Counseling & Betrayal Trauma
Therapy for POC & Women of Color
Generational & Systems Trauma
These aren’t just areas of study. I know firsthand how these experiences can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself, your partner, or the life you once knew. I also know what it feels like to find your way back to yourself through healing, and I’m here to help you do the same.
-
Therapy with me is like a conversation with someone who understands your journey and doesn’t require you to perform, find the right words, or minimize what you’ve been through to feel understood. I make space for what you’re carrying and help you make sense of the thoughts, feelings, and emotions connected to your experiences.
My trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach combines:
Trauma & EMDR
To reduce emotional reactivity, process experiences that feel stuck, and create greater capacity for safety, connection, and resilience.Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health
To help you process the many emotions that can emerge as you navigate the challenges and changes of this new chapter.Anxiety & Depression
To explore what may be beneath the overwhelm, develop tools for emotional regulation, and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with yourself. -
Before becoming a therapist, I was a writer who taught songwriting and poetry to system-involved youth. Working with these young people opened my eyes to the ways trauma can shape our choices, behaviors, relationships, and emotional lives. It also sparked my deep interest in trauma and healing.
When I began my journey to become a Marriage and Family Therapist, I imagined continuing to work with children, adolescents, and families, exploring the relationships and systems that shape our emotional worlds.
Then I became a mother.
My own experience of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood shifted the direction of my work. Right after giving birth, I found myself with spiraling thoughts of fear and anxiety and quickly began to recognize how underserved new parents can be and how little we talk about the emotional transformation that comes with becoming a parent. Becoming a mother inspired me to center women, parents, and parenthood in my work while continuing to support those healing from experiences they may have carried long before becoming parents. It reinforced something I deeply believe: when we support a parent’s emotional well-being, we are often supporting an entire family.
